Netflix uses different Social Media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. They do this to stay relevant and to advertise their service and the content they offer on it to try and expand the amount of subscribers they receive to increase company profits.

Because Netflix have an online presence on several social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram they can communicate with customers. This is good for both Netflix and its customers as it:
- Allows users of the Netflix service to get in touch with Netflix Technical support if there is any issues with the website such as videos not playing.
- Allows Netflix to advertise their own TV Shows / Movies in a fun and interesting way to try and expand the amount of people who subscribe to Netflix because they want to watch their content.
- Allows users to talk to Netflix to suggest ideas on ways that they could improve their service either on their website or in their mobile or computer applications.
They could interact more effectively with customers by allowing customers to message Netflix directly instead of just tweeting them.
Advertisements
Netflix can use their social media channels to advertise their TV shows and movies which are new to the Netflix service. They share text posts, images and videos. They do this to try and get people to watch more content on their service which means that they are more likely to subscribe or keep their subscription going rather than cancel or subscribe to a competitor's service such as Amazon Prime or Now TV.
They could improve their advertisement methods by actually including in the description of photos and videos what show they are actually advertising as they do always do this.

Netflix watch how the audience reacts to their TV shows by:
- Watching what hashtags are trending on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and seeing if their shows appear in those lists.
