Social Media for Netflix's departments
Human Resources
The 'Human Resources' department can use social media to advertise new available job roles for potential employees within Netflix. They show how great it is to work for them to try and attract the right staff for the business.
Marketing
The 'Marketing' department can use Social Media to advertise Netflix's products which is its three tier subscription service. It does this by advertising the content the subscription service provides and increases the awareness of the brand by updating their social media channels consistently. They also look through which of their shows are trending to try and make more content available that appeals to their audience.
Sales and Customer Service
The 'Sales and Customer Service' department can use Social Media to engage with customers and to help them when they are having issues with the Netflix service and then to help the customer resolve the issue. They can also alert users if the service is down so that the customer knows why they cannot watch any TV Shows or Movies on Netflix.
Research and Development
The 'Research and Development' department of Netflix can use Social Media to get feedback on new TV show or Movies that they could either add already produced TV Shows or Movies to the service or could create entirely new TV Shows or Movies for the viewer to enjoy.
Purchasing
The 'Purchasing' department will go to television studios, television networks and movie studios to see if they can license their content for streaming on Netflix. They will pay the source money to allow Netflix to air the content although because rights to shows or movies may have already been sold in certain countries or because of content restrictions in certain countries that are out of Netflix's control these licenses are region specific.
The 'Purchasing' department also pays for thousands of servers across the world so that customers can access Netflix's content from any device.
Finance
The 'Finance' department will look at its competitor's services to see how they can make Netflix more financially viable and increase profits while remaining competitive with the competition.
Administration
The 'Administration' department look at how many subscribers they have to the service to see how they could increase that. They could change the prices to what potential customers consider to be more reasonable to try and attract more subscribers or they could increase the prices to get more profit from the current subscribers although this may have an unintended consequence of people unsubscribing from the service from it being too expensive.
Manufacturing
The 'Manufacturing' department will see how they can improve Netflix's website and mobile and desktop applications by designing, creating and testing new versions of it. They'll also look at feedback on social media to see how they can make the service better for the customers of Netflix so that they don't unsubscribe.
